Potter House Vets (Potter House Ltd)

Potter House Vets (Potter House Ltd) presents itself as an independent practice with a 30-year heritage, and it notes very limited availability for new clients. The clinic appears set up for both routine care and more involved treatment, including surgery, urgent help, support for very sick or elderly pets, and compassionate end-of-life care. Recent feedback remains largely warm and loyal, with particular praise for clear communication and kind handling during difficult decisions, though there is also criticism of a front-desk check-in error, a long wait, and one complaint that prices felt a little high.

Services

•Routine and preventive care: Annual check-ups, vaccinations, first visits for a new puppy, and ongoing care for pets registered with the practice over many years.
•Surgery and procedures: Neutering is mentioned repeatedly with positive comments about aftercare. Reviews also mention an elderly dog having a castration and lumpectomy, with phone updates during the day.
•Urgent and more complex care: Owners describe treatment after an accident, help for a dog that became extremely sick, and support for pets with longer-term needs including elderly animals and a diabetic dog. One review also mentions the team staying behind after hours to help in an urgent case.
•Diagnostics and treatment planning: Clients mention the team carrying out tests, explaining diagnoses and options clearly, answering questions, and not pushing unnecessary treatment.
•End-of-life care: Euthanasia is described as being handled with time, compassion, and practical support, including help with cremation arrangements.
•Facilities and practical details: Reviews mention an operating theatre within the same building, a clean clinical environment, and plenty of parking spaces. The clinic is also listed as a Veterinary Nurse Training facility.
•Prescribed treatments: Vet-prescribed parasite treatment is mentioned in feedback.

People

Elliott Kirwan is the main named vet in customer feedback. Owners regularly praise him for clear explanations, reassurance, surgical updates, support with difficult decisions, and compassionate care during euthanasia.

Austin Kirwan is also named by long-standing clients as the previous vet who cared for their pets over the years.

Beyond the named vets, reviews speak well of the wider team, including receptionists, nurses, and other vets, for being welcoming, thorough, and helpful at stressful moments and at discharge.

Reviews

Google rating: 4.5 stars from 70 reviews.

•Feedback is mostly very positive, with many owners describing the practice as caring, professional, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in their pets.
•Communication stands out strongly: clients mention staff taking time to explain options, answer questions, and provide reassurance, including phone updates during surgery.
•More involved cases feature regularly in reviews, including neutering, castration and lumpectomy, treatment after an accident, support for a very sick dog, and care for pets needing tests and diagnosis before end-of-life decisions.
•A small amount of criticism focuses on the front desk rather than clinical care, including one detailed complaint about a missed check-in causing a wait of over an hour and another comment that the clinic felt a little pricey.

An excellent caring and professional vets. We can’t thank Elliott enough for his advice, care and empathy for both Poppy and the family during her short illness and finally putting her to sleep in a gentle humane way. Highly recommend them having used them for years.

Exceptional, individual, most caring and wonderful vets that I have ever known. I have many animals with this practice and I wouldn’t trust any of them anywhere else. Elliot and his wonderful, understanding team are just amazing. Always go out of their way to provide first class care for your pets. They go well over and above what is expected of them and saved the life of my beautiful dog, Doris last year after she became extremely sick . She was treated as one of their own. I simply cannot recommend this amazing and talented practice enough. Huge thank you.

Wouldn't go to any other vets. All of the staff are amazing here. Always taking the time to explain everything and allow for questions about even the little things. They are really thorough without just doing things to charge more and are considerate of your choices. Our cat sadly had to be put down last year, they couldn't have done more for us, from taking her in when she wasn't quire herself, to doing tests and then diagnosis, they didnt push, explained everything so we understood our options, and helped us through the final decision with overwhelming compassion. Now we have a puppy, and we didnt hesitate to take her there for the same first rate care.
