No Empathy From Reception Woman. I got home from work this evening (Tuesday 30th September) to find my 15 year old boy hobbling in a lot of pain. Unable to weight bear on his back leg. I rang to ask for an emergency appointment at just after 5pm. The surgery is open till 7. The receptionist informed me that she had no appointments till Saturday. I asked her about duty of care to an old dog who was in pain. And she asked me in an unkind tone How long have you left him like this? I have no appointments we are booked up a week in advance I was so upset, almost in tears. I love my dog. He is family. To be accused of leaving him struggling in pain. Why would I be desperately trying to get him seen by his registered vet if I didn't? I then rang Myerscough, who reassured me, and so I would make it before their 7pm cut off, she registered my boy in the car on our way there. So thank you Pinewood. If it hadn't been for your apathetic, uncaring receptionist. I wouldn't have got the treatment my old lad deserved and is now being cared for properly with anti-inflammatories to take that terrible pain away.

Cannot fault Pinewood Vets! I have a very nervous dog who I took in for boosters and to check a lump. The vet was so calm and lovely, unfortunately my dog was really stressed so they provided medication to take before another appointment to calm her. They also didn’t charge me for the consultation as we couldn’t get any of it done. Although I would have paid, it was such a lovely gesture and really made me feel like they cared, the medication was also really affordable! Having been with Vets4Pets for years, where they charge you before the appointment and all the medication is ridiculously expensive, it is so refreshing to go to a vets which actually feels like a doctors clinic for you pet and not a shop where they try to drain your wallet! I cannot fault the vets and the receptionist here, they really made the effort to comfort my dog and make her feel safe. I would 100% recommend to anyone considering registering their pet.

Receptionist, very helpful. Vets are extremely caring, and get straight to the point without fobbing you off with unnecessary extras.

I’ve been taking my two cats Leo and Oscar to pinewood vets for 7 years now and it has been my family’s go to vets for years before that! I can honestly say the whole team are so lovely from the reception staff, to the veterinary nurses to the vets!! I recently had an issue with my cats vaccination boosters and I was panicked so called the reception team and the lovely Sandra helped deal with my query straight away!! She even asked the vet for advice and called me back before the practice closed! Thank you so much Sandra, I really appreciate all of your help and this is why I would recommend Pinewood Veterinary to everyone!!

My mum took her beloved dog Molly, a small 11 year old whippet to have her annual booster; simultaneously requesting if Molly could be examined due to having what she thought to be severe gingivitis. Molly had lost a tremendous amount of body weight within a very short period of time, and had a foul smell permeating throughout her mouth which was extremely disconcerting. My mum had also brought this to the vet, Sophie’s attention. Sophie reassured my mum that Molly was in ‘excellent condition;’ later forwarding her a quote for just over £1000 to have Molly’s teeth cleaned. Within several days, Molly visibly began to deteriorate. She became weak, refusing to eat and had started to self isolate, hiding and wanting to be alone. After eating and drinking only a minimal amount, Molly then regurgitated this and her health rapidly declined. The following day 27th December 2023, my Mum took Molly to a different vet, and on taking blood, she was subsequently told the very sad news, that Molly was in fact dying from kidney failure. In that moment, she had to make the heart breaking decision to have Molly put to rest. I implore anyone reading this to stay far away from this extremely inadequate veterinary practice. All they care about is money and giving people false information in order to promote unnecessary treatments instead of being thorough and diagnosing properly. As a vet, Sophie should have been fully aware that the type of symptoms Molly had displayed were potentially linked to issues with her kidneys. To further elaborate, When Sophie knelt to Molly’s level (even after repeatedly being asked if she wanted Molly to be picked up in order to examine her thoroughly, Sophie declined.) Instead, she went to Molly’s level and acknowledged that there was a bad smell coming from Molly’s mouth. At this point, given Sophie's veterinary knowledge and training, Sophie should have immediately advised on a blood test, right there and then; being aware that with the vast weight loss, coupled with terrible breath could be an indication of something more sinister and malignant going on. She instead chose to ignore the potential dangers of these symptoms, advising a £1000 cleaning of Molly’s teeth. Do you comprehend? Good! Now do not respond to this review again, you have caused enough upset and devastation. Reviews are an option for a reason, to give people’s truthful opinions of their experiences, this is exactly what has been typed here; our truth and our experience.
