A Compassionate and Trustworthy Practice We've been with Mearley Vets in Clitheroe since moving to the area at the end of last year, and they've provided exceptional care for our elderly dachshund, Florence. From the very first appointment, their team were kind, professional, and clearly cared deeply about the animals they treat. Florence wasn't an easy patient – older, slower, and increasingly frail – but they handled her with such gentleness and respect. They’re not the cheapest vets around, but the level of care and honesty is worth every penny. When it came to the hardest decision of all, they could have suggested costly, non-essential treatments to buy a little more time. Instead, they gave us the clearest, kindest advice: to put Florence’s comfort first and not prolong her pain. Thanks to Mearley Vets, Florence had dignity in her final days. We'll always be grateful for their compassion and integrity.

Weve been coming to this vets for a couple of years on our daughters recommendation, after changing from another local vets, who we found didn't have the same compassion or care for our dog. We are so happy with Mearleys . We saw Chase who is a really friendly helpful Vet . After a thorough check up he took the time to listen to all our concerns and explained the way forward for our furry friend. I highly recommend .

Although staff are friendly, I was left with a lingering feeling of having been done over by these vets. Everything has become ridiculously, and I mean totally ridiculously & unjustifiably expensive. Whether it's a short consultation, worming treatments or routine jabs, they absolutely milk it. We paid £250 for our pup to have a pulled nail trimmed using their out of hours service. Our older dog had a bout of diarrhoea and they somehow managed to stretch that out to nearly £700!! Vaccinations and worming treatments seem to be the most expensive, by far in the area. So the BBC exposé on this vets company - real name IVC Evidensia - came as no surprise to me. It revealed their strategy is to push their vets to squeeze as much money out of each animal as possible, to upsell and drag out as many consultations and treatments as they can from each client in order to maximise returns for their investors. That fits exactly with my experience and is not what I want driving the veterinary care of my dogs. I have asked them to price match the cheapest local vets or we'll go elsewhere.

Started off great, took my cat in for a pre op for being neutered the vet was brilliant checked her over then said to bring her 3 days later for operation. Dropped her off in the morning, got a call later in the afternoon that everything went well and I could pick her up. Got there and she was in cage with no protection for her wound. Asked if they have cones they said she wouldn't need it, I said she will lick and bite a wound to help soothe it, was then given a cone.. Was £125 for this with my membership Went home and waited an hour with cone on my cat was very distressed. Called them they suggested buying a vest for her from them so another £20 spend for a vest they said is her size. It wasn't it was too big she got it off. I called them again and she said there is nothing we can do try pets at home. I asked if there was any type of dressing I could put on, receptionist said she would talk to vet and call me back, never got a call back!!! A week later I went back in for follow up check. Got my cat out of cage and put her on table and the vet just said she looks fine no more treatment needed, she didn't even look at my cats operation area. Not a follow up when they don't even check the area!! Will never go there again. They keep calling me to arrange for vaccinations but I've gone somewhere else. Would not recommend to anyone!!!

We visited another vet in the town 5 years ago shortly after moving to the area & my wife & I were not happy with the way the vet handled our dog Buster, we also felt that their estimate for dental surgery was excessive. So, we spoke with pet owners in our village & Mearley’ were recommended. We quickly arranged an appointment & were immediately impressed, Buster was chilled, his mouth examined more thoroughly & the estimate for the dental work hundreds of pounds less (we didn’t tell them about our other experience either) Since then we’ve had fabulous experiences with Mearley’s at Clitheroe, each vet, Simon, Chase & Irene very obviously care for animals, have experience & also a natural ability to communicate with you clearly, compassionately & with empathy. We've also noticed on each visit that all pet owners in the waiting area with us seem happy, are chatty, friendly, very obviously care for all pets waiting & all have seemed equally appreciative of the services that the practice provide. The other important point is that we’ve always had our telephone calls answered quickly, reception staff have been sympathetic, friendly as well as competent & efficient. I can’t recommend Mearley’s enough. Love em.
