I came away from the vets today really thankful we've got this team on our doorstep. I am not sure of the vets name but this is the second time she's seen Milo. He's not a fan of the vets but she's calm and reassuring and even got some tail wags out of him. thank you for being patient with a silly old dog who couldnt wait to leave. He is definitely more settled tonight.

We are on holiday when our little Dog became unwell. As it was a Sunday we had to call Carnforth Pet Care Vets emergencyclinic. Within 2 hrs our Angel had been checked, diagnosed and required medication was given. All the staff were so caring and helpful. I would highly recommend this practice.

Registered at this practice some time ago following a recommendation but this was our first visit. Sam the Receptionist was lovely, welcoming and looked after us. The Vet was great and reassured me that she had performed the procedure (hernia strangulation fix) many times on much older dogs which rested my mind. She made the decision to operate immediately, talked me through the procedure and any risks etc and kept me in the loop throughout. Tink came out of surgery as good as new! Fast forward a couple of weeks my old girl is running around again living a happy life, with plenty left in her. Thanks Carnforth Pet Care.

If only 0 stars was an option! We’d been members here for a few years but thankfully only attended for health checks & vaccinations until recently. My partner had taken both our cats to the vets for their yearly boosters. Over the next couple of weeks our cat started with a lump on his back. I took him into the practice to be checked. I queried whether it could be his booster to then be told that it couldn’t as it was too far down his back & there was a possibility that the lump was cancerous. The lump was aspirated & slides taken. I agreed to have the samples sent to the lab & to book an appointment for 2 days later. I left with a hefty bill of nearly £400. I was in shock & upset following the appointment, the possibility of our beloved cat having cancer was heartbreaking. I didn’t question the bill at the time, I paid and left. The following day I called the practice & spoke to the receptionist, I queried the fast track fee & the receptionist said “I haven’t heard of that before” & couldn’t tell me if the results would be back in time for the appointment. Sabrina called me following this email & said “you said you had insurance” & then went on to say that the fast track fee was an error as it was for a different department & not cytology. This fee was refunded to me a few days later. During this call Sabrina said that she had looked at the slide in house & that it showed neoplasm, I asked if this meant cancer & she said “it does look like a sarcoma”. We then discussed the possible options going forward, surgery to remove the lump, cancer treatment etc. The diagnosis was devastating to us as a family, & we immediately began considering the best course of action to treat what we were led to believe was a serious & life-threatening condition. The appointment was cancelled for 2 days later as the “fast tracked” results wouldn’t be back in time. My parter & I returned to the clinic 4 days on from the first appointment with our cat for his results. We arrived for our appointment & were seen by another vet, we didn’t catch her name. During the appointment the vet told us that the lab results were back and there was no cancer, only inflammation. We were in complete & utter shock. We had spent the weekend in utter turmoil thinking we were going to lose our beloved cat only to be told that the diagnosis we had been given by Sabrina on the phone was wrong. We were also billed for this appointment, an appointment for someone to tell us that Sabrina had made a mistake. When we queried this with the vet she said that I must have misheard Sabrina to which I replied I had not. I had specifically asked Sabrina on the telephone if it was cancer and she said yes. I was with my friend for this telephone call, who confirmed she had heard the same. Sabrina said the lump looked like a sarcoma. The vet then said that they weren’t specialists. I have since had an email from our insurance declining our claim because, although Sabrina had said it couldn’t be from his vaccination as the lump was too far now (incorrectly administered!?), Carnforth Pet Care had written on the vets section of the insurance form “lump at vaccination site” which would come under “arising from routine vaccinations” I put in a complaint to Carnforth Pet Care to which was not even acknowledged until 6 days later after I’d sent a second email & requested copies of our cats records. My complaint was answered by Ben, who brushed off each one of my concerns, I was told it was a “misunderstanding” and a matter of “interpretation” He also went on to say that our results would have been here by 11am but I preferred to wait until 2 days later which is untrue. I was told they wouldn’t be back that day otherwise we would have attended then instead of worrying all weekend. I was also told that the insurance forms were a “clerical error from an administrator” & that they are in contact with our insurers. Thankfully the lump has resolved, we have cancelled our membership with immediate effect & will never return to this awful practice.
